CARE AND SURVEILLANCE OF FEET

For a diabetic person, feet have to be the object of a quite particular attention. The diabetes create complications at the level of lower limbs (legs and feet):

• An anormality of the blood circulation in arteries is at the origin of difficulties of healing the hurts of the skin, which is often found on feet: cut, bulb, crack, cracks between toes, nail.

• Infringement of nerves (neuropathy) responsible for a perception decrease of pain, for the heat and the cold. • Problems of infections: a wound becomes infected more quickly in case of diabetes because the high rate of sugar in the blood (hyperglycemias), that facilitates the development of bacteria and mushrooms.

The prevention of the complications passes by :

• A good balance of the diabetes to avoid the chronic hyperglycemias

• A regular surveillance of feet detect very early small wound on toes, back or wild plant

• Precautions of hygiene to avoid the arisen of wounds at the level of the foot.
